Michael & Farrah - Rest In Peace

The morning of June 26th 2009 will never be the same again.

The most memorable lost icons of different decades had left their beloved fans and the world with peace.

The news of one of the Charlie’s Angels’ Farrah Fawcett lost her battle against cancer and left the world on Thursday morning 25th June 2009, leaving behind long-time partner Ryan O’Neal and a 24 years old son. And then subsequently, approximately 12:31pm, another shocking and unexpected news spread like wild fire – Michael Jackson, the King of Pop that stormed the music industry for the past 40 years since Jackson 5, died of cardiac arrest.

I’m sure the people of my peerage will not remember or knowing Farrah Fawcett’s legacy where frankly, I was not at that era too, and the first generation of the Angels, which starred alongside Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson. I watched a family drama long time ago, I could barely remember the title, but then the story was about a woman fighting for life due to domestic violence until she burn her husband on the bed alive. But this blonde beauty portrayed the role very well. Fawcett’s famous trademark pearly white set of teeth and fluffy blew-up bombshell hairdo definitely earned her the 1970s era, where my mom also told me she had that done as well.

And then here comes Jacko’s passing.

I was born in that era where he topped the music chart – Thriller, Beat It and Billie Jean. Todate, ‘Thriller’ remained as the most sellable album of the decades. I remember those days when I was kicking my tiny feet in my wooden crib, with only my diapers while listening to those three songs. I used to be so afraid of Thriller’s music video until as I grew older, I thought those dancing zombies are too talented, cute and funny to watch. He’s the man who invented the moonwalk, robotic and animated dance, modern dancing, tap dancing, crotch grabbing, white gloves, golden military coat, black knee-length pants with black shoes and white socks.

His performance was nonetheless charming and energetic. His voice was so fine and in an extreme high pitch that definitely wouldn’t break an eardrum. He breaks the racial barriers in ‘Black and White’, punching on political and human rights manner in ‘They Don’t Care About Us’, he ‘Heals the World’ with the controversial environmental ‘Earth Song’.

Let’s remember this legendary icon for his music, art and charitable heart other than media publicized scandals, his black to white skin, miscellaneous allegations and scapegoaticism. Once a person is dead and gone. There’s nothing left for us to cry and practically it’s enough of mourning. But all we could do is remember his songs that touched us deeply, songs that we could get our butt up and dance and shake all the time and a song we could do a slow dance with our loved ones.

We love you and you’ll always be missed.
